Title of movie: Vanilla Sky
Year of release: 2001
Starring: Tom Cruise
Director: “Cameron Crowe” (possibly Tom Cruise in a latex mask)
Plot: Rich prick gets in a car accident, has some nasty dreams, and then Mr Exposition shows up in the great glass elevator from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the last 10 minutes to explain everything
Director’s taste in music: Same as mine; you can tell because this film has like fifteen pointless needle dropsa
Does it contain a Tom Cruise Triathlon™?b No, although he does do a Tom Cruise Run™ at least once
Does it at least have good ideas? It has the germs of things that might be called ideas, but none that haven’t been done better before
Overall review:
An update on the needle drops: since i do, despite my grievances, share the same taste in music as the director, i looked around for a soundtrack playlist on Youtube Music.
I found one. There are not fifteen needle drops. There are <a href="https:/music.youtube.complaylist?list=PLHyrI4zgOhZYNHM38bLpQLoXWiBqKw8dF" rel="nofollow ugc"><em>thirty-fucking-seven</em></a>. Mr Crowe, please get help.
Saw this as a teenager and listened to the title track ('chef prepares special menu for your delight oh my' etc) a lot. It may have been the best thing about the movie. I think at the time I summarised it as 'a drama about how Tom Cruise's face is no longer beautiful'. I love the idea of the Tom Cruise Triathlon!
